David was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. His father was an English Professor and published author, and although his mother is a registered nurse, she chose to stay home to raise David and his 4 brothers. He married his only bride, Davey, in 1991 and they have 4 children. His career path started in the Army for 6 years. After the army he took an entry-level position in the corporate world and worked his way up to Executive Management. Eventually David chose to become an entrepreneur and together with his wife Davey, they co-own Wooton Construction and The Home Project Center.
Growing up in South Louisiana where most communities are centered on faith, David knew he believed in "something" but wasn't quite sure what that was. He knew there was that strong feeling of coming together to help your neighbor and Sundays were spent with other neighborhood families in the local church. By the time David reached 22 years old, he was struggling with addiction to alcohol and drugs and one day woke up in a hospital room. Though that was a low point in his life he went on to marry Davey and raise their 4 children with faith at its core. Faith played a daily role in their lives, but on a fateful day in 2018, David's spiritual journey changed from believing to knowing. You can read more in his book:
